During the Easter holidays, the Benedictine
monastery will be open the whole day from 9.00 to 17.00, also on Sunday the 5th and Monday the 6th. Moreover, in
collaboration with the municipality of Catania it will also be possible to get
on the roofs of the church of San Nicolò l’Arena to ‘touch the sky’ of Catania:
a walk on one of the most panoramic points of the town.
The roofs’ pathways of the church will
be open to the public thanks to Officine Culturali from 10.30 until 17.30
(access will be possible according to the following time slots: 10:30 – 11:00 –
11:30 – 12:00 – 12:30 – 15:00 – 16:00 – 17:30). After a short introduction to
the Eastern cloister of the Monastery, visitors will be accompanied on the
roofs of the church that the Benedictine monks built on the highest point of
the ancient town. After climbing the 141 steps of the spiral staircase,
visitors will enjoy a beautiful 360° view of Catania: from the hills of Monte
Po to Etna, from the skyline of the town to the coast of Syracuse.
To visit the roofs’ pathways there is a
fee of €4* (€2 for Monastero Card or Catania Pass holders). Entrance from the Info

To visit the roofs’ pathways of the
church of San Nicolò l’Arena reservation is necessary. You can reserve by phoning
to 0957102767 – 3349242464. It is possible to contact the Info point of
Officine Culturali from Monday to Sunday from 9.00 to 17.00.
*On the 6th of April, visitors to the
roofs will benefit from a reduction on the ticket for the guided tour of the
Benedictine Monastery by showing the ticket of the roofs’ pathways at the Info
point of Officine Culturali. The guided tours of the Benedictine Monastery take
place every day from 9.00 to 17.00 (every full hour).
