The Archive “del Museo della Fabbrica” of the Benedictine Monastery is the result of the initiative of the surveyor Antonino Leonardi who, starting from the early 1990s, began to organize the documents produced during the restoration of the Benedictine Monastery of Catania, intended to house the headquarters of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy (now the Department of Humanities). Today, the Archive, in addition to supporting research activities, hosts valorization and educational activities.

The Archive is the heart of the “Museo della Fabbrica” , namely, the collection of documents that over the years has been preserved, organized and collected with the goal of providing support for the contemporary restoration work of the Monastery, by the Architect Giancarlo De Carlo and the University Technical Office.
Officine Culturali, thanks to the special public-private partnership agreement with the University of Catania and in synergy with the Department of Humanities, deals with the enhancement and planning of educational activities and promotes research and study of the documentary heritage preserved within it.
The project âLa Fabbrica dell’Archivioâ intends to:
Make the Archive of the “Museo della fabbrica” of the Benedictine Monastery of Catania, accessible, online and on site, for study and research and for wide cultural and educational purpose, through the digital reorganization of the Archive catalog and the digitization of the material (photos, drawings, videos).
Strengthen the links with the Antico Corso, a neighborhood with which the Monastery has always had a complex relationship.

The material of the Archive of the “Museo della Fabbrica” consists of documents, practices, drawings, construction site photos and various objects divided into titles and sections and is made available for consultation by Officine Culturali thanks to the public/private partnership with the University of Catania.
